PEOPLE: Couldn't gush enough about my j-lo, Tiffany and Jae. And Lizzie, the best cheerleader a girl could ask for, and everyone I know who heard about this damn story for the last three months and didn't slap me silly to make me shut up.
EXPLANATORY NOTES: This story started with a flash of a scene. Lance behind the counter at the concession stand in a movie theater and Justin walking in. Lance saying, "You're that guy from the Backstreet Boys." Justin saying, "And I won't work on Lou's farm anymore." And j-lo thought it sounded cool, so writing began with the thought that this would end up being about thirty pages and take a few weeks. Pause for my hysterical laughter. Three months and 88 pages later, I write these notes.
Starting with the idea that Justin had joined the Backstreet Boys when they formed and so, N Sync never happened, I decided the Boys never did shuck off Lou. I read and reread a number of articles on the Backstreet Boys while writing this, and over and over again, it seemed that the initial spark of distrust with Lou came with the formation of N Sync. Without our favorite gay dancing boys forming behind their backs, I assumed the Boys stayed with the Evil Scary One.
I've also written these Backstreet Boys, including Justin, as much more damaged and fucked up than I think any of them would be in our world. Justin here being in a group that isn't made up of people he knew before the group formed like JC and Chris, and without those two years of the Mouse and time served in junior high, is much more affected by growing up in the biz.
Since the Swedes have to write for someone, I assumed BSB had their pick of the best of the best and wisely snapped up Bye Bye Bye for their own.
